What is mediation?

In a divorce mediation, you and your partner work with a neutral third party to work through the terms of your divorce. During the mediation process, both parties engage in open discussions and negotiations to come to mutually acceptable agreements pertaining to child custody, division of assets, and spousal support. The mediator facilitates these discussions with a goal of reaching fair agreements that satisfy both parties.

Divorce mediation

  • Cost-effective, with fewer legal fees

  • Resolved quickly, on a shorter timeline

  • Less adversarial, reaching consensus through a neutral facilitator

  • Control over resolution, with both parties coming to the table to reach an agreement

Divorce court

  • Costly, with neverending attorney fees and court costs

  • Time-consuming, sometimes lasting years

  • Emotionally draining, exacerbating feelings of resentment while inflicting trauma on children

  • Loss of control, with a judge ultimately determining the divorce terms and final settlement

The mediation process – from consultation to conclusion

You’ll always know what to expect from both our process and our pricing.

Initial consultation and information gathering

After a free consultation to determine that mediation is a good fit, we’ll hold an initial session to gather information on marital assets and financials while providing you with a roadmap for the coming mediation sessions. Transparent, flat fee pricing is discussed.

All clients will be provided with a Tools and Resources binder with professional resources you may need during the divorce process and post-divorce, and we’ll help set up initial consultations with realtors, mortgage lenders, financial planners, or any other resources you may require.

Mediation sessions

The following mediation sessions will each focus on a different aspect of the divorce, including child custody, equitable distribution, and child/spousal support. Memorandums of understanding will be drafted and finalized for each area of concern.

During this time, we’ll continue to facilitate consultations and appointments with the different professional resources and ancillary services you may need outside of mediation. As part of our concierge service, we ensure that you have your entire divorce team in place.

Divorce agreements and resolution

With memorandums of understanding finalized, we’ll put both you and your spouse in contact with an attorney to represent each of you individually to officially file your divorce complaint and memorialize all agreements. The entire process can be completed without ever stepping foot in court.

Alternatively, if you want to handle filing by yourselves, we’ll provide detailed instructions for doing so.

Simple, straightforward, and painless – that’s our goal.
